Gone to a show or viewed a video lately where you asked "What is that?" when you saw a guitar that was being played? It’s been a while
since I asked that question. There's nothing better than playing a guitar that is unique and one of a kind.
There are a LOT of guitars
out there that are beautiful and a lot of guitars made with killer woods or with great looking caps. I'm as big a fan as anyone when
it comes to a killer flamed or quilted maple top done in a just right tinted finish. The problem is that there are literally thousands
upon thousands of these guitars around these days. When PRS first came out with their amazing 10 tops I was mesmerized by them. I
still think they're beautiful and I own a couple of them. But then everyone started doing amazing maple tops and these days there
are Asian made guitars with great looking tops that are extremely affordable. So you can go out and get a nice guitar with a beautiful
top but the guy next to you or in the next band could well have something just like it.
How about a guitar that no one else has and
looks like nothing else out there. Not in shape or design, because let's face it, some designs just work, but in how it looks. And
how about that guitar has great electronics and sounds great too. Wouldn’t it be worth it to have a guitar that makes YOU stand out,
is also fun to play and doesn't jab your bass players eye out with points sticking out all over it?
That was basically my idea when
I started to build these guitars. People have always commented on some of the intricate artwork I do so I had the idea to put that
artwork on guitar bodies. It's not an easy process, guitar bodies have a lot of contours and curves. Drawing the designs and painting
them is painstaking and time consuming work. But the finished effect is worth it. I started with the two prototype guitars but I've
since advanced my technique and materials, the first commercial set of guitars are going to be pretty stunning in appearance and have
great tone as well. And each one will be unique, there will be no two that look the same.
I'm combining my love of guitars with my
love of doing art into these one of kind guitars, I may produce five or six or 20 or more. Each one takes a few months to complete
and feature hand sanded and buffed Nitrocellulose lacquer finishes.
